Use this Wakelet template to create a time capsule for your class. Careful, you can only pick three items!
This activity supports the development of the following social-emotional skills: relationship skills and responsible decision-making.
Make a copy of the Wakelet template below for your students, and engage them in a group discussion about which three items they would add to a classroom time capsule. These items should capture what life is like for them and show who they are, what they enjoy, and what is happening in the world around them. Since students can only choose three items to add to their class’s time capsule, they will need to practice listening to each other’s ideas, and decide on a fair way to decide which items to include.
Note: To copy this template, tap the three dot menu at the top of the collection, and click on “Copy Collection.” You'll be able to access your copy in your homepage. Then, click on “Invite” on your copy and share the link with your students to invite them to contribute to your class collection!
Once your class has created their time capsule, share it with your Empatico partner class during a live virtual exchange. Invite students to share more about the items they included, how and why they decided on these items, and ask questions about each other’s time capsules. You might even challenge them to create a shared time capsule for both classes!
