All About Us: Kahoot! Game

Work with students to create a Kahoot! game about your class, and share it with a partner class to learn more about each other!

Activity Partner
Total time estimate:
30-60 minutes
Activity Objectives
  • Students will create a Kahoot! game about their class by determining what information is most important to share about themselves with new friends
  • Then, students will play a partner's class Kahoot! game to learn more about them and explore their similarities and differences

This activity supports the development of the following
social-emotional skills: self-awareness, social awareness, and relationship skills.

Create

Engage students in a conversation about meeting your Empatico partner class. You might explain: "We have an exciting opportunity to get to know a class that is located in another part of the world. We may discover that we share some things in common, and there may also be some differences between us! To learn more about each other, we will create Kahoot! games about our class and community, and then play each other's games."

Ask students the following questions:

  • What do you think our new friends are like?
  • Do you know anything about the city / country where they are located? What do you want to learn about their community?
  • What fun facts can we share about our school and community? (e.g., where we live, what we enjoy doing, languages we speak, our favorite food, etc.)
  • What questions do you have for our partner class?
  • Do you think we will have anything in common with each other?

Then, use the Kahoot! template below to create a game about your class. Make a copy of the template, and then work with your students to help them come up with their own questions, answers, fun facts, and more!

Share

Share the link to your Kahoot! game with your Empatico partner class, or play your games together during a live virtual exchange by using the Zoom or Microsoft Teams integrations, which allow you to play a game directly within the video conferencing platform.

Reflect

Guide students through a post-activity reflection by asking the following questions:

  • Describe the experience of creating the game with your classmates. Was this easy or hard to do? How did you decide which information to share about yourselves?
  • What did you learn about our class? What did you learn about our partner class?
  • Did you notice any similarities or differences between students in our classes, or our communities?
  • What questions do you have for our partner class after playing their game? How would you like to get to know them better?
Did you finish this activity? We'd love your input.
