Activity Partner
Total time estimate:
15-20 minutes
Activity Objectives
  • Students will use a Wakelet template to share fun fact about themselves, such as their favorite animals, books, songs, and hobbies
  • Then, students will share their Wakelet collections with their classmates to learn more about each other and explore their similarities and differences

This activity supports the development of the following social-emotional skills: self-awareness, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.

Create

Make a copy of the Wakelet template below for your students, and invite them to share fun facts about themselves, such as their favorite animal, book, song, hobbies, and more!

Note: To copy this template, tap the 3 dot menu at the top of the collection, and click on 'copy collection’. You'll be able to access your copy in your homepage. Then, click on 'invite' on your copy, and share the link with your students to invite them to contribute to your class collection!

Share

Share your students' Wakelet collection with your Empatico partner class, either before or during a live virtual exchange, to help them learn more about each other.

Invite students to share about what they included in their collections, tell stories, and ask questions. Encourage them to practice curiosity and kindness, and listen carefully to others, ask thoughtful questions, and take turns speaking.

Reflect

Guide students through a post-activity reflection by asking the following questions:

  • Did you share anything in common with another person? How did you feel when you discovered these similarities?
  • How can we build new friendships, and strengthen existing friendships, by recognizing our similarities and appreciating our differences?
  • Did you learn about anything new that you want to try? What is it?

This activity was created in partnership with Wakelet.

Did you finish this activity? We'd love your input.
